The city park is a popular resort town of Nordhausen. In particular, the animal enclosure, the duck and the swan pond used by the North houses brisk. In order to make these areas more tangible, the City Park and City Park Bach were renovated, redesigned and upgraded.
One of the main objectives of the project was the natural transformation of the city park creek with production of ecological continuity and the promotion of natural conditions in and on water. In a species conservation expert contribution initially the requirements concerning species conservation were shown roughly and evaluated. Furthermore, made extensive studies for flora and fauna of the area. One of the measures of the LBP's were the dismantling of three culverts, reconstruction of the crash at the duck pond in a Sohlengleite as well as structuring the river bed of the brook city park by installing flow control arms. In some sections of the straight course of the city park brook was changed into a meandering. Furthermore, a riparian buffer strips was applied, which was planted on both sides with typical tree species.
